Postgraduate Institute of Dental Sciences (Govt. Dental College and Hospital, Rohtak) is a premier dental institute in the country offering quality dental education to undergraduate as well as postgraduate students since 1981. The Institute comes under the aegis of Government of Haryana and Pt. B. D. Sharma University of Heath Sciences, Rohtak. It has well known throughout India for its impeccable patient care and quality dental education.
This Institute is running B.D.S. with 100 admissions per year and M.D.S. in 9 specialties; Conservative Dentistry, Prosthodontics, Pedodontics, Orthodontics, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Periodontics, Public health Dentistry, Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine and Radiology with intake of 33 MDS students per year. Besides this, it is also running Dental Hygienist, Dental Mechanic courses and P.G. Certificate course in Oral Implantology and P. G. certificate course in Endodontics. PGIDS, Rohtak also offers fellowship courses in Micro-endodontics, Implantology, Maxillofacial Prosthetics, Maxillofacial Traumas, Forensic Odontology and Maxillofacial Prosthesis.

The College is very well equipped with 303 sophisticated Dental Chairs, 2 Dental operating microscope, 1 All ceramic furnace, 2 Metal ceramic furnace, 11 Radio-Visio graphic Unit, 3 implant Units, 3 digital OPG machines, one state of art CBCT and one air-conditioned Mobile Dental Van with 2 dental chairs and all modern equipments. All the postgraduate clinics and OT’s are air conditioned. Lecture Theatres are fully air conditioned, well equipped with audio-visual aids, an excellent Auditorium with 300 seating capacity, Emergency Operation Theatre, Conference Hall and 24 hours dental emergency services and 20 bedded dental ward in are also available in our institute. All the treatment is free of cost under Mukhyamantri Mufti Ilaaj Yojna of Government of Haryana..Apart from these, the institution also provides surgical as well as rehabilitation services and has round the clock monitoring in the Dental Ward with capacity of 20 indoor patients. Integrated research activities are taking place with collaboration of Maharishi Dayanand University, Pt. BD Sharma PGIMS, College of Pharmacy and State Institute of Mental Health, Rohtak. Faculty and students of PGIDS Rohtak have published their research work in International journals with highest impact factor such as journal of endodontics International endodontic journal Journal of Periodontology,Quintessence International and Angle Orthodontics
The reservation policy settled by Govt. of India as well as Govt. of Haryana for admission to Post Graduate Course is also being adopted while making admission to various MDS course. Dental College, Rohtak is catering the need of the patients both General & specialized treatment such as Endodontics, fixed Orthodontics treatment, Orthogenathic Surgery, Crown & Bridge Procedure, Periodontics Surgery, Implants etc. are being performed in different departments. The department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery provides round the clock services and is having a 25 bedded ward for Indoor treatment. During the year 2005-06 a total no. of 1,10,957 patients have been treated in various outdoor patients departments and 533 no. of patients have been treated as Indoor Patients. Preventive & Community Dentistry department has been assigned duties for various Primary Health Centers where Doctors visits rural areas for providing treatment to need patients and also provides Dental Health Education to Rural Areas Population. Dental College, Rohtak has sufficient teaching Staff for undergraduate and Postgraduate Courses as laid down by the Dental Council of India.
